Thanksgiving Week in Hawaii - November 2008

The Pineapple Room by Alan Wong

We touched down just around 12:30 pm from San Francisco and wanted to grab a "nice" lunch near our hotel. We were told that this restaurant in a department store would be a surprising experience.

Far from it. Service was pleasant but, for a restaurant with a well known chef lending his name, this restaurant dining experience was a major disappointment.

It seemed like the food was routine and no effort was made by the cooks to really see how they serve food to their customers. From the express lunch it was really express with out thought. It looked pre-plated and the salads were old and parts of the lettuce should not be on the plate. The dessert appeared it was prepared and served by an elementary student playing with melted chocolate and just poured the chocolate on the ice cream and brownie with no purpose. As for the decor, it was dirty, look at the chairs and the flooring. It showed to me that if the surrounding was neglected, the food was just as evident.

Don' tdo it, go to the food court in the mall itself. Price? Overpriced for lunch, $50.00 for two people....sad.
