I touched down on Wednesday afternoon and was up and running from the HNL airport to meet my niece, Karllyn for lunch. She said to me that she would be done with classes after 11:30 am. It was perfect timing that I managed to get to her soon after.
I surprised her by taking her to lunch at the Honolulu Museum of Art's pavilion cafe. Nice, it made it possible for both us to catch up with school and family and to enjoy the museum's current exhibitions.
We enjoyed the Korean and Buddhist exhibits. I pointed out to her to really look at not only the art on display but how it's being described and in what context. Sometimes looking at art, curators have a keen and clever way of portraying artwork outside of it's actual narrative. My take is to steer some "realness" to the art itself.
